Claudia Cuentas is an artist, educator, therapist and researcher. She has been singing and dancing since birth, inspired by sound, the healing arts and the ability of the human spirit to overcome difficulty and transform it into new life. Claudia was born in Lima, Peru and studied music and movement since an early age. At age 18, she moved to California and entered the Music Program at Chico State University, graduating with degrees in Music and Education.

Claudia moved to the Bay Area in California and studied with Anna and Daria Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute in Kentfield, CA. Claudia graduated from Tamalpa Institute as a Movement and Expressive Arts Therapy Educator. She continued her studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where she pursued a Masters in Psychology and Drama Therapy. While in San Francisco she worked also at Music Together, an organization that helps parents and children reclaim music and movement as natural avenues to joy and immersion in life, while strengthening a healthy parent-child connection. She also worked as a bilingual storyteller, sharing original indigenous stories to increase diversity awareness and tolerance.

Claudia has worked as a somatic art therapist in California, Arizona, Oregon and Peru for several years with individuals, children, families and communities. Currently, Claudia lives in Portland, OR where she offers therapeutic services to diverse communities in the Area. Her focus is Trauma Recovery. Claudia's sessions are informed by tracking the nervous system and focus on supporting individuals and families overcome challenges and achieve a more tolerable, balance and harmonious place in life. Claudia also leads workshops in cultural diversity and art as healing, as well as bilingual song circles for the community. Claudia also works as a consultant with the Ministry of Education in Peru to implement creative pilot programs aimed at preventing violence in the rural schools.

She is the founder of the Canta Colibrí Project, an organization that supports the use of one's voice to restore health within the body, mind and spirit.
